Transformation of spaces: Art awakens sense of “proximity”

In SIP, the transformation of spaces goes beyond physical transformation—it is a profound experiment in human connection.

The 688 Arts & Fashion Space, once an idle underground commercial complex, has recently become an exemplary project for “space revitalization” in SIP. The original commercial complex has been divided into two parts, one featuring visual exhibitions and art and the other integrating dining, retail and pop-up stores. The artistic installations, trendy experiences and modern consumption scenarios have attracted many young people.

SIP has made a series of efforts to improve the vitality of public spaces. The shores of Jinji Lake has seen growing popularity among tourists due to its distinctive attractions, characteristic tourist service facilities and innovative scenarios such as concerts and night markets held on a regular basis and diverse art exhibitions and festivals.

The newly upgraded Ferris wheel also shone brightly this summer, with its romantic ambiance setting the stage for over 10 surprise proposal ceremonies, making it a cherished landmark of emotions for countless tourists and residents alike.

By Yangcheng Lake, fireworks bloom in succession across the night sky every weekend, their shimmering reflections painting the lake like an illusionary galaxy. The Suzhou Yangcheng Peninsula Theme Park has demonstrated the magical appeal born from deep integration of culture and tourism, with its single-day visitor footfall exceeding 10,000.

The enduring appeal of these spaces in SIP lies in the eliminated boundaries of traditional functional zoning for seamless fusion of art, commerce, nature and culture, which creates new forms of “proximity” in emotions.
