Bring ecological spaces to life

While safeguarding blue skies and clear waters, SIP has been strengthening efforts to vitalize ecological spaces, hence the improving service facilities on lake shores and increasing recreational options offered everywhere.

Here are some common scenes: by Jinji Lake, residents stroll or jog along the shoreline, enjoying the gentle breeze over the water; at Yangcheng Lake Peninsula, cycling enthusiasts weave through tree-lined paths, breathing deeply in the natural oxygen bar; on Dushu Lake, water sports enthusiasts ride the waves, reveling in aquatic joys.

This autumn, SIP held the Three Lakes Carnival, offering distinctive commercial, cultural and travel experiences to locals and tourists based on the abundant resources in the Jinji, Yangcheng and Dushu lake areas.

Animals have also contributed to the growing vitality of ecological spaces. More migratory birds flock into SIP each year, and the local biological diversity has been improving. In early October, honey buzzard, a Class-II species under priority protection in the country, was found in SIP.

Around this year’s International Day for Biological Diversity, SIP carried out its first survey on species at Yangcheng, Jinji and Dushu lakes, recording 307 species including birds, aquatic plants, fishes and phytoplankton, zooplankton and macrozoobenthic species.

SIP has established a comprehensive system integrating monitoring, prevention and control and management to protect ecological spaces and, at the same time, enhanced efforts to maintain and boost the vitality in these spaces.
