An event was held at the 688 Arts & Fashion Space in SIP on Apr 30 to usher in China’s Youth Day which falls on May 4 each year.

The event was jointly sponsored by the Publicity Department of the CPC SIP Working Committee and the Communist Youth League SIP Working Committee, with support from the Publicity Department of the CPC Suzhou Committee, the Communist Youth League Suzhou Committee, and Suzhou Federation of Literature and Art Circles. It was designed to create an integrated ecosystem combining youth, art, sweet experiences and consumption to inspire young people to pursue their dreams in SIP.

The SIP May 4 Youth Art Week opened at the same time. Scheduled from Apr 30 to May 5, it comprised exhibitions, salon sessions, art performances, themed fairs and information sessions on SIP’s talent policies that were designed to offer young people a stage to showcase their talents, enhance interactions with others and seek better self and career development.

A highlight was the joint exhibition of five higher education institutions, which showcased about 300 artworks by young people from these institutions, including paintings, designs, installations and industrial art. The exhibition will last till May 31.

An information session was held to explain SIP’s incentives for young talents, especially policies for those engaged in cultural and creative sectors and support for one-person companies.

A series of open, interactive theme activities were held, creating trendy consumption scenarios centered on the 688 Arts & Fashion Space alongside SIP’s major scenic spots and landmarks.

A number of young people received honors for their excellent performance in their fields and their exemplary role in striving for better development.

A brochure for young talents was released to offer guidance for young people to work and live in SIP.

About 100 businesses offered more than 1,500 consumption coupons, allowing young people to enjoy trendy experiences in a cost-effective way. Participants could also enjoy discounts in the designated consumption scenarios based on the stubs of tickets to exhibitions, sports events and concerts in SIP, or exchange them for other benefits.
