The Moon Bay OPC Community for Overseas Talents, SIP’s first hub for one-person companies founded by overseas talents, welcomed its first foreign entrepreneur recently. With full-process support from local staff, Moya Sancho Jose Roberto (Rob) from Costa Rica quickly completed all registration procedures.

As a student at Silk Road School, Renmin University of China Suzhou Campus, Rob founded a tech company focusing on software design and development. The company provides services such as product design, user experience design, prototype development, and AI-driven workflows for startups and growing teams.

When asked why he chose to start his business in SIP, Rob said SIP has preferential policies for OPCs, enables fast registration, and helps connect with resources and wider OPC networks. In his view, setting up a company directly in China allows for smoother partnerships with local clients and lays a solid foundation for future cross-border business expansion.

The OPC community where Rob’s business is located came into operation in April. It embraces startups engaged in such sectors as biomedicine and healthcare, renewable energy, green economy and intelligent agriculture.

“We provide end-to-end support for overseas talents to launch a business, covering everything from registration consultation and policy interpretation to partnering support,” said its founder.

The community is equipped with over seventy 24-hour open workspaces, as well as a roadshow hall and meeting rooms of various sizes. Furthermore, it has also built an internal ecosystem to connect OPC founders, promote resource sharing, and foster interactions and collaboration.
