The 2026 China-U.S. Young Maker Competition Suzhou Selection concluded at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, SIP on June 15.

The China-U.S. Young Maker Competition, an annual event initiated by the Ministry of Education of China in 2014, is aimed at offering global young people a chance to showcase their ideas and inventions focusing on sustainability of human society. From 2017, the Suzhou tryout of the event is held in Suzhou Dushu Lake Sci-Edu Innovation District in SIP.

This year’s event, themed “Co-Making the Future”, is designed to encourage the participants to—based on new trends of artificial intelligence—develop forward-looking solutions to promote the digital transformation of society and contribute to global sustainable development.

The Suzhou division, launched in April, attracted 107 projects from 42 universities and colleges, of which 46 projects from 16 schools advanced to the final.

After expert evaluation and roadshow, the projects from Soochow University, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications won the top three places in the main category, while the projects from Ningbo City College of Vocational Technology and SIP Institute of Services Outsourcing took the top three places in the sub-categories. These projects will compete in the national finals of the 2026 China-U.S. Young Maker Competition.
